The Tempest is arguably one of Shakespeare's best works and is thought to be one of the last plays he wrote, if not his final piece.

Our vision for the show was to create choreographic sequences appropriately slotted into the play in place of scenes that could be performed to get to the point more directly, i.e. through dance. We wanted to direct the play in this way to cut out all of the unnecessary dialogue, condensing scenes, and to further explore character relationships.

The Tempest follows the story of Prospero, the former Duchess of Milan, scheming to retrieve her Dukedom back from her sister, Antonia, who usurped Prospero and banished her from Milan. She creates a storm to sink the ship that her sister is onboard, then Ariel rescues everyone that fell overboard. The King of Naples' son, Ferdinand (both of whom were aboard the ship), falls in love with Prospero's daughter, Miranda. Prospero uses this to her advantage as a way to get her Dukedom back. Many other characters appear, trying to get used to their new life on the island. Murders are planned and thwarted, betrayal is discovered and punished, love is found, and magic is made!
